These terms apply to services booked with Maxtech PC Build & Repair.
Appointments
Maxtech is a mobile, appointment-based service. Appointments are booked in standard windows and confirmed by email. Same-day service is available when the schedule allows.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, call or text as early as you reasonably can. Someone else is usually waiting for that window. If I need to change an appointment, you'll hear from me directly, not from an automated message.
Please make sure the PC and the space around it are accessible at the appointment time, and that someone 18 or older is present for on-site work.
Pricing and approval
Published prices represent standard installations and are shown on the pricing page. You will know the price of the booked service before the work begins.
No additional work is performed without customer approval. If I open a system and find the job is larger or different from what was booked, you get the revised price first, and you're free to decline.
Some systems require an individual quote before booking, including custom water cooling, unusually complex RGB systems, specialty small-form-factor builds, modified cases, and damaged systems requiring extensive reconstruction.
Diagnostics
The $20 diagnostic labor fee covers troubleshooting and identifying the likely source of the problem. On-site diagnostics also carry the flat $20 mobile visit fee, for a typical $40 total. Parts and repair labor are separate unless otherwise specified.
Some faults are intermittent and cannot be reproduced on demand. If the cause genuinely cannot be identified, I'll tell you what was ruled out and what I'd suggest next rather than guessing at your expense.
Parts
Customers normally purchase their own components. Maxtech does not mark up parts. Parts you buy are covered by the retailer or manufacturer warranty, and those warranties remain the responsibility of the retailer or manufacturer.
If a part is specifically provided or sold by Maxtech, the terms covering that part are agreed in writing at the time of sale.
A Windows license is not included in any service price unless it is specifically purchased.
On-site service fee
Diagnostics, repairs and upgrades carry a flat $20 on-site service fee. It is a single fixed amount for the visit rather than a distance-based charge, and it is the same anywhere in the normal service area. Custom PC builds include the on-site visit at no extra cost for addresses within 25 miles. Beyond 25 miles, any additional charge is agreed with you before the appointment is booked. The fee is displayed before you confirm a booking, and addresses well outside the normal service area are confirmed with you directly.
Repair service policy
Individual services such as RAM replacement, GPU replacement, SSD replacement, CPU replacement, cooler replacement, motherboard replacement, power supply replacement and case transfers do not automatically include three months of free labor support.
Maxtech stands behind the workmanship related to the specific repair performed. If the specific work performed wasn't done correctly, contact me and I'll correct it. The three-month labor-support program applies to complete PC builds — see the warranty policy.
Basic functionality testing after hardware replacement is included in the repair price.
Data
Back up anything you can't afford to lose before any service involving storage devices, operating system installation or a system transfer. Maxtech takes reasonable care, but storage devices can fail without warning and data recovery is not part of the standard services offered.
Where a service involves reinstalling Windows or replacing a drive, I'll confirm with you beforehand what will be erased.
Payment
Cash, Zelle, Venmo and card are accepted. Payment is due when the service is complete unless agreed otherwise beforehand.
Limits
Maxtech is a small owner-operated service. Liability for any service is limited to the amount paid for that service. Maxtech is not responsible for pre-existing faults, for hardware that fails independently of the work performed, or for loss of data.
Services can be declined where the work is unsafe, where a system is damaged beyond reasonable repair, or where the requested work would risk making an existing problem worse. If that happens, I'll explain why and won't charge you for work that shouldn't be done.
